Info: Two- and 3-layer inflated pillow facades and roof
The design of the Corriere della Sera pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 was created by designer Monica Armani. The idea of transparency of the textile façade was realized through the use of 22 transparent PVC crystal cushions inserted between as many laminated wood columns. The roof, on the other hand, consists of two large 6mx6m skylights made of triple positive and negative printed layers. A system of motovalves allows the flow to be diverted to one or the other chamber in order to vary the light filter. The lightness of the facades and roof is in stark contrast to the mass of the glulam part, but this combination is elegant and understated, as per the client’s request.
